Service Learning

Service Learning is an exciting teaching and learning strategy that joins together meaningful community service with a profitable learning experience. It also offers a hands-on approach to education through universities, colleges, and schools. Service learning combines service and learning objectives with the intent to show a change, not just in the recipient and the provider of the service, but also in the community. I personally chose Genesee County Humane Society (GCHS) for my Service Learning Project because of my love, passion and dedication for animals. Providing a safe, loving and warm place for an animal to lay it’s head at night, giving it two meals a day and providing nourishment will give a stray dog or cat hope. Because the GCHS is a non-profit organization which relies on the community for donations, they need our support. According to my source, GCHS receives more than enough dry pet food but are still in need of wet dog and cat food. My proposal is to have a dog toy and canned pet food drive on December 5th 2009 between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. My only concern with this project is that no one will donate to this wonderful cause.
I have contacted the proper person to gather my information that is needed to continue with my project. She is on board and is willing to help in any way possible.

PLCR Research

By law every business must have posted, an equal employment opportunity poster size board regarding sexual harassment, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disabilities do's and don'ts, that way if an employee has an issue with anything, it is posted so all can see.
*Having weekly or monthly meetings with employees is a good way to communicate, to see if there are any problems with people, job descriptions etc.
*Communicate with each of my employees.
*Give my employees little incentives to let them know that they are appreciated.
*Treat everyone like I would want to be treated.
If an employee is not happy at their job, then the work place will be affected, but if they are happy and feel appreciated, your business will run smoothly.

Do's and Dont's

DO'S
* The positive do's of social networking is simple.. having a "clean" name on the Internet could land you the job of a lifetime, and give you the right people to talk to that could lead into starting your own business or expanding an existing one.

*Having an upbeat, friendly, nice, manner, professionally as well as social, will help into demonstrating how well your demeaner is. For instance, if someone is "bashing" someone else's name, then that really doesn't say much for that individual.

*You get to talk to people, relatives from other states, regions, countries.

DON'TS

*This will decrease the possibility of getting a job.

*If you know of a certain person with a not so good reputation, because you associate with this person, you are labeled "bad" as well.

* Pictures may get on the Internet, that are for your use only. Repairing your reputation to where it should be will be extremely difficult.
