A Crying Shame

It saddens my heart to see all the animals, especially dogs and cats that have been kicked out of their homes and left to survive on the streets, with heat and cold conditions, not knowing where their next meal will come from. There should be tougher laws that protects these innocent creatures from mankind. The human population gets punished for hurting or killing a human being, animals are God's Creature and should be treated as such...

unwanted animals

It is so sad to see how many abandoned and unwanted animals there are in the Genesee County area. It breaks my heart to see a dog or cat, roaming the streets, going through garbage just to find something to eat. If I had the property to keep all these precious little guys, I would scoop them all up.

abandoned pets

Did you know that animals who are abandoned often become feral, die of disease or starvation, or are picked up by an animal shelter. 77% of all animals in shelters are KILLED.

6-8 million dogs and cats every year go into pet shelters in the United States, of whom approximately 3-4 million are euthanized due to either illness, abuse, being a dangerous animal or not being able to find a home.

Right now I have 6 abandoned cats staying in my basement. 3 of which are babies along with their mother. The other 2 have been spayed and neutered, thanks to my dear mom.

If people would realize these animals have feelings just like we do, maybe they would think twice about it. I know there is a law about abandoning and abusing animals, but if no consequences or punishments are given, then it will continue to happen.

abandoned & alone

Houses are being foreclosed every day, and that means families have to leave as well. So what happens to the pets that call it their home? Leaving them abandoned and at the mercy of fending for themselves and onto the streets, they must be so confused… wondering where their loving caregiver is, and why they are suddenly freezing, starving and alone. And, where will they go now and if anyone will take care of them. Pet cats that are abandoned will not easily fend for themselves outdoors. Unfortunately, most of these cats and their offspring will suffer premature mortality (death) from disease, starvation, or trauma.

long term goal

This project was very important to me because I am going to open a Pet Sitting Business in 2010. I enjoy being around animals and hate to see an abused or abandoned animal, so giving to this organization was very easy for me to do. I just hope my community will support me as well. thank you to all those who particpated and donated.
